Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Broken or slipped drive belt (belt-drive Insignia models), Faulty lid/door lock not allowing spinning, Worn motor carbon brushes (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
- Safety First: Unplug the washer before accessing the drive system.
- Check Door/Lid Lock: Ensure the Insignia washer door or lid locks properly during the spin cycle. If it does not lock, the control will inhibit spinning.
- Run Spin-Only Cycle: Select a spin-only or drain & spin program with an empty drum to see if the washer can spin without a load.
- Inspect Belt and Motor: Remove the rear or bottom panel and check if the drive belt is intact and properly tensioned. Replace if broken or loose.
- Check Motor Brushes (if applicable): On some older Insignia-branded models with brushed motors, worn brushes can prevent spinning. Replace brushes if they are very short.
- Replace Motor or Lock: If the belt and lock are good but the motor does not run in spin, the drive motor or control board may be faulty and often requires professional diagnosis.
