Possible Causes
Failed door lock assembly, misaligned door strike, broken door latch, loose wiring to door lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the washer before working around the door lock.
Steps:
- Inspect door strike: Check the plastic strike on the door for cracks or misalignment. Replace if damaged.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and is not obstructed by clothing or a twisted door boot.
- Access door lock: Remove the outer clamp from the door boot and peel the boot back near the lock. Remove the screws securing the door lock assembly and pull it out.
- Inspect and reseat wiring: Check the connector for loose or burnt pins. Reseat the harness.
- Test lock: With a meter, check continuity of the lock and switch circuits per the service manual. If readings are out of spec, replace the door lock assembly.
- Reassemble: Reinstall the lock, secure the boot and clamp, and test a cycle.
Note: Forcing the door open can damage the lock; always wait for the lock to release after power is removed.
