Possible Causes
Failed door lock solenoid, control not sending unlock signal, mechanical jam in latch, water still detected in tub
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the washer before attempting manual release. Do not force the door open.
Steps:
- Wait a few minutes: Some models delay unlocking for safety. Wait 2–5 minutes after cycle end.
- Check for water: If water remains in the tub, run a drain/spin cycle. The door will not unlock if water level is high.
- Manual release: On front-loaders, remove the lower front panel and reach up to the door lock to pull the manual release tab or cable.
- Inspect lock: Once open, test the door lock assembly and replace if it intermittently fails to unlock.
