Washer will not start or spin; display shows dE or DE; door will not lock or indicates open.

Safety first: Unplug the washer before working around the door lock wiring.

• Check door closure: Remove any clothing caught between the door and gasket. Firmly close the door until you hear a click.
• Inspect door gasket: Ensure the rubber boot is not folded or obstructing the door. Reseat the gasket if necessary.
• Examine door strike: Look at the plastic door strike on the door. If cracked or loose, it may not engage the lock. Replace if damaged.
• Clean latch area: Use a soft brush to remove lint or detergent buildup from the door lock opening.
• Test door lock: Start a cycle and listen for the lock to engage. If you do not hear it click and dE appears, the door lock assembly is likely faulty and should be replaced.
• Top-load models: For LG top-loaders, dE can indicate a faulty lid switch or lid lock. Inspect the lid lock harness and replace the lid lock assembly if it does not engage.
