Possible Causes
Mechanical jam in lock, Broken lock actuator, Faulty lock solenoid, Control board not releasing lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. If the door is locked with clothes inside, do not force it open.
- Manual door release: Many LG front-loaders have a manual release tab near the door lock behind the lower front panel. Pull the tab gently to open the door.
- Inspect lock area: Check for foreign objects in the latch opening. Remove any obstruction.
- Cycle power: With the door open, unplug the washer for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try a rinse/spin. If dE2 returns immediately, the lock is likely defective.
- Replace door lock: Access the lock from inside the front panel, disconnect the harness, and install a new LG door lock assembly.
- Control board check: If a new lock does not resolve dE2, the main PCB may not be driving the lock correctly and should be evaluated by a technician.
