Possible Causes

Partially blocked drain pump, Clogged pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Weak drain pump impeller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and prepare for water spillage when opening the pump filter.

  • Clean pump filter: Open the lower front access door, place a tray underneath, and unscrew the filter cap slowly. Remove lint, coins, and debris. Check inside the pump cavity for obstructions.
  • Check drain hose: Detach the drain hose from the standpipe and inspect for clogs or kinks. Flush with water if necessary.
  • Inspect pump impeller: With the filter removed, gently spin the pump impeller with a finger. It should turn smoothly with slight resistance. If it is loose, broken, or jammed, replace the drain pump.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the filter securely, reconnect hoses, and run a drain/spin cycle to verify proper drainage.
