Possible Causes
Defective door lock mechanism, Broken door latch hook, Faulty door lock wiring harness, Failed control module door lock relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped between the door seal and glass. The door should click positively.
- Inspect door latch hook: Look at the metal/plastic hook on the door. If it is loose, bent, or broken, the lock cannot engage and the door or complete door assembly may need replacement.
- Access the door lock: Remove the front retaining band from the door gasket and gently pull back the seal to access the door lock assembly on the cabinet front. Disconnect the wiring connector.
- Test the lock: Using a multimeter (with the appliance unplugged), check continuity across the lock terminals when the mechanism is manually actuated. If open circuit, replace the door lock assembly.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the door lock to the main control module for damage, burning, or loose connectors. Reseat all plugs firmly.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the door seal band, plug the washer back in, and run a short cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
