Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Blocked drain hose, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.
- Access the pump filter: Open the small service flap at the bottom front of the machine. Place a tray under the filter cap.
- Drain residual water: If fitted, use the emergency drain hose to empty water into the tray. Then slowly unscrew the pump filter cap.
- Clean the filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the impeller turns freely by hand.
- Check drain hose: Inspect the drain hose at the rear for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush through with water.
- Test the pump: With the machine reassembled and plugged in, run a drain/spin program. If you hear no pump noise or it hums but does not turn, the pump motor is likely defective and should be replaced.
- Replace pump if required: Access from the front bottom or rear (model dependent). Remove mounting screws, disconnect wiring and hoses, fit the new pump, and ensure all clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
