Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes on motor, Faulty tachometer coil on motor, Loose motor connector, Defective motor control circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor. The drum and motor can move suddenly.

  • Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding. If very stiff, the issue may be mechanical (bearings) rather than electrical.
  • Access the motor: Remove the rear panel. The motor is mounted under the drum with a drive belt. Remove the belt and disconnect the motor plug.
  • Inspect brushes (if fitted): On brushed motors, remove the brush holders and check the carbon length. If they are worn to a few millimetres or uneven, replace both brushes with the correct Neff-compatible set.
  • Check tachometer: At the rear of the motor, inspect the tachometer coil and magnet. Ensure the magnet is intact and the coil connector is secure. Measure resistance across the tach coil; an open circuit indicates failure.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the motor and belt, ensuring correct belt tension. Run a spin cycle. If E06 persists, the main control module may require professional diagnosis and replacement.
