Possible Causes

Shorted heating element to earth, Damaged heater wiring insulation, Burnt heater relay on control board, Moisture ingress in heater terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the washer and, if the breaker has tripped, reset it only after inspection. Do not operate the machine until the fault is corrected.

  • Inspect heater area: Remove the rear panel and visually inspect the heater terminals and wiring for signs of arcing, burning, or moisture.
  • Insulation test (if equipment available): With the heater disconnected, use a megohmmeter between each heater terminal and earth. Low resistance indicates a short to ground and the heater must be replaced.
  • Check wiring harness: Look for damaged insulation where the harness passes near sharp edges or moving parts. Repair or replace damaged sections.
  • Replace heater: If the heater is shorted, remove and replace it as described for E05. Ensure the new heater is correctly seated and sealed.
  • Control module check: If the heater and wiring are sound but E09 persists, the power module may have a failed relay or track damage. This typically requires professional board repair or replacement.
