Possible Causes
Incorrect door lock feedback signal, Loose door lock wiring, Faulty door lock microswitch, Control module sensing fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the washer. A faulty door lock can pose a scalding and flooding risk.
- Check door lock operation: Start a cycle and listen for the lock engaging (click) before unplugging. If the door can still be opened, the lock is not securing properly.
- Inspect wiring: Access the door lock behind the front panel and check the connector for looseness or damage. Reseat the plug firmly.
- Replace door lock: If the lock does not hold the door closed or the feedback signal is inconsistent, replace the entire door lock assembly with a Neff-compatible part.
- Control module check: If a new lock does not resolve E16, the control board input circuit may be faulty and require professional service.
