Washer will not start; display shows E01 immediately after pressing Start.

Safety first: Disconnect the washer from mains power (unplug or switch off circuit breaker) before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing with the machine powered.

• Step 1 – Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped between the door glass and gasket. Verify the door clicks positively when closed.
• Step 2 – Inspect door hook: Examine the plastic/metal door hook on the door. If cracked, loose, or bent, the lock cannot engage. Replace the door hook if damaged.
• Step 3 – Access door lock: Remove the front door seal clamp and gently pull back the gasket to access the door lock module (typically on the right side of the opening on Schulthess front-loaders). Check for loose screws or movement.
• Step 4 – Check wiring: With power still disconnected, unplug the door lock connector. Inspect for burnt pins, corrosion, or loose wires. Reseat the connector firmly.
• Step 5 – Test door lock coil: Using a multimeter, measure resistance across the lock coil terminals. Compare to Schulthess service specs (typically a few kΩ). If open circuit or shorted, replace the door lock assembly.
• Step 6 – Control board check: If the door lock tests good and wiring is intact, the main PCB may not be sending the lock signal. Inspect the PCB for burnt components. Replacement of the PCB is recommended to be done by a qualified technician.
