Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Clogged drain hose or standpipe, Defective drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Prepare towels and a shallow tray; water will spill when opening the filter.
- Step 1 – Access pump filter: Open the service flap at the bottom front of the machine. Place the tray under the filter cap.
- Step 2 – Drain and clean: Slowly unscrew the filter cap to let water drain. Remove the filter completely and clean out lint, coins, buttons, and debris. Check inside the pump housing for obstructions and carefully spin the impeller with your fingers.
- Step 3 – Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks or crushing. Detach from the standpipe or siphon and flush with water to ensure it is clear.
- Step 4 – Test pump operation: With the machine empty and reassembled, briefly power on and start a drain/spin program. Listen for the pump running. If it hums but does not pump, the impeller may be jammed or the pump is weak. If it is silent, the pump may be open circuit or not receiving power.
- Step 5 – Electrical test: Disconnect power again, access the pump from the rear or bottom. Check the wiring connector. Measure pump coil resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed pump. Replace the drain pump assembly if defective.
