Possible Causes
Severely unbalanced laundry load, Worn shock absorbers, Loose concrete counterweights, Faulty imbalance sensor or motor tachometer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Do not operate the washer with panels removed.
- Step 1 – Redistribute load: Open the door (after the lock releases) and redistribute laundry evenly around the drum. Avoid washing single heavy items (e.g., one bath mat) alone; add towels to balance.
- Step 2 – Check machine leveling: Ensure the washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the feet and lock the nuts. A rocking machine will trigger imbalance errors.
- Step 3 – Inspect shock absorbers: Remove the rear or front panel to view the tub suspension. Push down on the drum and release; it should rebound once and stop. Excessive bouncing indicates worn dampers. Replace both shock absorbers as a set.
- Step 4 – Check counterweights: Inspect the concrete or cast-iron weights on the tub for cracks or loose mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to manufacturer torque; replace broken weights.
- Step 5 – Sensor and tachometer: If mechanical parts are sound, check the motor tachometer and any dedicated imbalance sensor wiring. Replace faulty components if readings are out of spec.
