Possible Causes

Failed door lock solenoid, Broken or jammed door latch mechanism, Faulty door lock wiring harness, Control board not releasing lock signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before attempting to force the door open or removing panels.

  • Wait a few minutes: Some UniMac washers keep the door locked briefly after the cycle. Wait 2–5 minutes to see if it unlocks.
  • Check for water in drum: If water remains in the tub, the control may keep the door locked. Run a drain/spin cycle if possible. If it will not drain, troubleshoot the drain system first.
  • Manual release: Many UniMac front-loaders have a manual door lock release tab accessible behind the lower front panel or near the door lock. Remove the lower panel (with power off), locate the release cable or tab on the door lock assembly, and pull gently to open the door.
  • Inspect door lock assembly: With the front panel removed, check the lock for broken plastic parts or signs of overheating. Verify the wiring harness is fully seated and not damaged.
  • Test lock coil: Use a multimeter to check resistance of the lock/unlock coils per the service manual. Replace the door lock assembly if coils are open or shorted.
  • Control check: If the lock tests good but will not receive voltage to unlock, the machine control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
