Possible Causes
Intermittent door lock switch, Loose door lock harness connection, Damaged harness between door lock and control, Faulty machine control board door lock circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing internal components.
- Reseat connections: Remove the top or front panel to access the door lock. Disconnect and reconnect the wiring harness at the door lock and at the control board to clear oxidation and ensure a tight fit.
- Inspect harness: Follow the harness from the door lock to the control. Look for pinched, cut, or burned wires, especially where the harness passes through frame openings. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Check door lock operation: With a multimeter, verify continuity of the lock and switch contacts while manually actuating the latch. Replace the door lock assembly if readings are inconsistent.
- Control board diagnosis: If the lock and wiring are good, the main control board may not be sensing the lock correctly. Visual inspection for burned components is helpful, but board-level repair should be left to a professional. Replacement of the control assembly is often required.
