Possible Causes
Misadjusted door strike, Worn door gasket preventing full closure, Defective door closed sensor in lock assembly, Loose door lock mounting screws
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before adjusting or removing the door lock.
- Inspect door gasket: Check the front door boot for folds, debris, or damage that might prevent the door from fully closing. Clean and reseat the gasket; replace if torn or deformed.
- Adjust door strike: Verify the strike fully enters the lock opening. If the strike is adjustable, loosen its screws slightly, reposition so it engages deeper into the lock, and retighten.
- Tighten lock assembly: From the front, check that the door lock assembly is firmly mounted and not shifting when the door closes. Tighten mounting screws.
- Test door closed contacts: With the door closed and power off, test continuity across the door closed switch terminals on the lock assembly. If the switch does not close reliably, replace the door lock assembly.
