Possible Causes
Failed NTC temperature sensor, Loose sensor wiring at UniMac heater assembly, Burned-out tub heater element, Faulty heater relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the machine to cool before working near the heater or tub.
- Check wiring: Access the rear or bottom of the washer to locate the heater and temperature sensor (NTC) mounted in the tub. Inspect wiring connectors for looseness or corrosion and reseat them.
- Test NTC sensor: Remove the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to UniMac specifications; resistance should change smoothly with temperature. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent.
- Test heater element: With wires removed, measure resistance across the heater terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed element. Also check for continuity between each terminal and ground; any reading indicates a shorted heater that must be replaced.
- Control relay: If the sensor and heater test good, the control board's heater relay may be defective. Visual inspection may show burned contacts, but replacement of the control assembly is typically required.
