Possible Causes

Defective door lock assembly, Broken or misaligned door hook, Wiring issue between door lock and main control module, Faulty main control module (V-ZUG power electronics)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the V-ZUG washer from mains power (unplug or switch off circuit breaker) before removing any panels. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is connected to power.

  • 1. Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no laundry is trapped between the door seal and glass. Verify the door clicks positively into place.
  • 2. Inspect door hook: Examine the plastic/metal door hook (striker) on the door. If it is loose, cracked, or bent, the interlock will not engage. Replace the door hook if damaged.
  • 3. Clean latch area: Wipe lint and detergent residue from the door lock opening on the front panel. Build-up can prevent full engagement.
  • 4. Power reset: Unplug the washer for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and try again. Sometimes the control electronics (V-ZUG power module) need a reset.
  • 5. Check door lock wiring (advanced): Remove the front retaining band from the door gasket, gently pull back the gasket, and access the door lock. Inspect the wiring harness and connector for loose pins or burn marks. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • 6. Replace door lock assembly if needed: If the lock does not click when starting a cycle and wiring is intact, the door lock assembly is likely defective and should be replaced with the correct V-ZUG interlock part.
  • 7. Call a technician: If a new lock does not resolve the issue, the main control module may be faulty and should be diagnosed with V-ZUG service tools.
