Possible Causes
Defective tachometer coil on motor, Loose tachometer connector, Damaged motor wiring harness, Faulty motor control circuit on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the motor or control electronics.
- 1. Observe behavior: Attempt a spin-only program and note if the drum jerks, accelerates uncontrollably, or does not move before E21 appears.
- 2. Access motor: Remove the rear panel and locate the motor. Remove the drive belt for easier handling.
- 3. Inspect tachometer: At the rear of the motor, locate the small tachometer coil assembly. Check that it is firmly attached and that the connector is secure.
- 4. Test tachometer coil: With a multimeter, measure resistance across the tachometer terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed tachometer.
- 5. Replace motor or tachometer: If the tachometer is defective and not separately replaceable, replace the complete V-ZUG drive motor assembly.
- 6. Check wiring to control board: Inspect the harness from the motor to the main control module for damage or loose plugs.
- 7. Technician service: If motor and tachometer are good, the motor control circuitry on the main board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
