Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power to the softener. Do not work inside the brine tank with power on. Wear gloves and eye protection when handling salt and brine.
Step-by-step:
- Inspect brine level: Remove the brine tank lid. Ensure there is adequate salt and that the water level is not excessively high (which can indicate a blockage).
- Check brine line: Follow the brine line from the control valve to the brine well. Look for kinks, pinched sections, or leaks at push-fit or compression fittings. Reseat fittings firmly.
- Clean injector/venturi: Shut off water and relieve pressure. Remove the injector/venturi assembly from the AquaUnique control valve (usually under a cap labeled INJECTOR). Disassemble and soak parts in warm water with a little vinegar to dissolve iron or scale. Rinse thoroughly and reassemble.
- Clean safety float: Lift the brine well cover and remove the float assembly. Rinse off salt sludge and debris. Ensure the float moves freely up and down and that the air check at the bottom is not clogged.
- Re-test: Restore water and power, then start a manual regeneration. Observe the brine draw stage; the brine level should slowly drop. If E02 does not reappear, the issue is resolved.
When to call a technician: If there is still no brine movement and E02 persists, the internal brine piston or control valve seals may be damaged and require professional service.
