Possible Causes
Bypass lever left in bypass after installation, Misunderstanding of BWT connection block positions, Stuck bypass valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Confirm which valves control the softener before adjusting. Sudden changes can affect the water supply.
- Identify positions: Refer to the BWT connection block diagram to identify the Service, Bypass, and Closed positions.
- Set to service: Move the bypass lever or valves to the Service position so water flows through the softener.
- Check for stiffness: If the lever is stiff, gently work it back and forth. Do not force it, as internal damage may occur.
- Test water: After a few minutes, test the water hardness at a tap to confirm softening.
If the bypass valve will not move or leaks in the Service position, it may need replacement.
