Possible Causes
Open compressor winding, Failed start relay, Faulty compressor relay on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Unplug the cooler before testing the compressor circuit.
- Check compressor temperature: If the compressor is cold while the fan runs, it is not being energized.
- Test start relay and overload: Remove and inspect the PTC relay and overload protector. Replace with a hOmeLabs start relay/overload kit if suspect.
- Measure compressor windings: With the relay removed and unit unplugged, use a multimeter to measure resistance between compressor terminals. Open circuits indicate a failed compressor requiring professional replacement.
- Inspect main board relay: If the compressor and start components test good, the main board's compressor relay may not be closing. Replace the main control board.
