Possible Causes
Misplaced cabinet sensor touching evaporator, Faulty NTC sensor reading too warm, Stuck compressor relay on main PCB, Incorrect thermostat calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal panels.
Steps to correct overcooling:
- Verify setpoint: Confirm the set temperature is appropriate for wine (e.g., 10–14°C for reds, 5–10°C for whites).
- Check sensor placement: Remove the internal panel and ensure the cabinet sensor is not in direct contact with the evaporator coil, which can cause it to read colder than the air.
- Test sensor: Measure the NTC sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to specifications. Replace with a Hoover-compatible sensor if out of range.
- Observe compressor cycling: If the compressor rarely switches off, the control relay may be stuck. This typically requires replacing the main control PCB.
