Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken or loose door switch wiring, Faulty main control board door input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door trim or control panels.
How to fix:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not preventing full contact. A partially open door can mimic a bad switch.
- Locate door switch: On many JennAir wine coolers, the door switch is a small plunger or hidden magnetic sensor in the cabinet frame.
- Test the switch: If it is a plunger switch, press it by hand and listen for the interior light turning off (when powered). For a magnetic sensor, hold a magnet near the sensor location and see if the alarm stops.
- Inspect magnet alignment: Verify the magnet in the door (if used) lines up with the sensor in the frame. Adjust door hinges or magnet position if needed.
- Check wiring: Remove the interior trim around the switch and inspect the wires for breaks or loose connectors. Repair as needed.
- Replace switch: If the switch does not change state when actuated, replace it with an OEM JennAir door switch or sensor.
- Control board: If a known-good switch and wiring still trigger E9, the main control board input may be defective and require replacement.
