Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, misaligned door magnet, broken wires in the door harness, faulty door input circuit on the control board.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the door switch or top hinge area.
E10 usually indicates that the control system believes the door is open when it is not.
- Step 1 – Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket makes uniform contact. Adjust leveling feet so the door self-closes from a partially open position.
- Step 2 – Locate door switch: Depending on the model, the switch may be a plunger in the frame or a hidden magnetic reed switch with a magnet located in the door.
- Step 3 – Test switch operation: For a plunger switch, press it by hand and listen for the interior light turning on/off (with power briefly connected). For a magnetic switch, hold a small magnet near the sensor location and see if the alarm stops.
- Step 4 – Inspect wiring: Unplug the unit and remove the top hinge cover or interior trim to access the switch wiring. Look for broken or pinched wires, especially where they pass into the door.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: Replace the door switch or door magnet if they do not operate correctly. If the wiring and switch are good but E10 persists, the main control board door input may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional technician.
