Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before servicing. Use caution when working around sharp metal edges.
Steps to resolve E8:
- Confirm the affected zone: Verify that E8 corresponds to the lower zone on your NewAir dual-zone model. Note any cooling issues specific to that zone.
- Locate the lower zone sensor: Inside the lower compartment, find the small sensor cover or probe on the back or side wall.
- Inspect the sensor and mounting: Remove any cover and check that the sensor is not loose, cracked, or corroded. Ensure it is not blocked by bottles or shelves.
- Trace the wiring: Follow the sensor wires toward the rear of the cabinet as far as accessible. Look for pinched or damaged insulation.
- Access the control board: Remove the rear or bottom panel to reach the main control board. Identify the lower zone sensor connector.
- Check and reseat the connector: With the unit unplugged, disconnect and reconnect the lower zone sensor plug. Inspect for moisture or corrosion.
- Test the sensor: Measure resistance of the sensor at room temperature and compare to NewAir’s specifications. Replace with a NewAir lower zone temperature sensor / thermistor if readings are abnormal.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power, and verify that the E8 code clears and the lower zone maintains the set temperature.
Note: Persistent E8 after sensor replacement may indicate a defective main control board, which should be replaced by a qualified technician.
