Possible Causes

Loose or damaged communication harness, Corroded connectors at display PCB, Faulty display/control panel, Faulty main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing any panels.

  • Access control panel: Remove the front control panel bezel or top trim to expose the display PCB.
  • Inspect ribbon cable/harness: Check the multi‑wire harness that runs from the display board to the main control board (often at the rear or bottom). Look for pinched, cut, or chewed wires.
  • Reseat connectors: Unplug and firmly reconnect both ends of the harness. Ensure connectors are fully seated and locking tabs engaged.
  • Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on pins. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and a soft brush if present.
  • Test continuity: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to verify continuity on each wire in the harness.
  • Replace faulty board: If wiring is intact, replace the display/control panel board first. If E9 persists, replace the main control board.
