Possible Causes
Failed outdoor ambient thermistor, Broken sensor wiring, Corroded connector at outdoor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the outdoor disconnect.
- Find the ambient sensor: On Luxaire condensers, the ambient sensor is typically mounted near the coil or on the control panel, exposed to outdoor air.
- Inspect wiring: Check for rodent damage, UV cracking, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug on the outdoor control board.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the sensor body is cracked or wires are broken, replace it with the OEM Luxaire ambient thermistor. Route the new sensor away from hot discharge air.
- Restart system: Restore power and command cooling. If F2 clears, monitor operation. If it returns, the outdoor board may be misreading and require replacement.
