Water Pressure or Flow Fault (Low Water Content)
Symptom
Boiler condensate pipe repeatedly freezes in cold weather.
Condensate discharge freezing
Symptom
Boiler cycles on and off frequently without reaching the set temperature.
Short cycling
Symptom
Boiler display is blank but the pump or fan occasionally runs.
User interface / display failure
Symptom
Boiler does not respond to room thermostat or programmer.
Control signal failure
Symptom
Boiler does not start at all; no lights or display.
No electrical power to boiler
Symptom
Boiler flue drips water externally or shows staining on the wall.
Condensate leakage from flue
Symptom
Boiler frequently loses pressure and needs topping up every few days.
Chronic pressure loss
Symptom
Boiler ignites, but then shuts down after a few seconds.
Flame instability / poor combustion
Symptom
Boiler is very noisy, with whirring or grinding sounds.
Mechanical noise from fan or pump
Symptom
Boiler leaking water from underneath the casing.
Internal water leak
Symptom
Boiler makes loud banging or knocking noises (kettling) during operation.
Boiler kettling / localised boiling in heat exchanger
Symptom
Boiler provides hot water but no central heating on a combi or system boiler.
No CH output
Symptom
Boiler runs for heating, but there is no domestic hot water on a combi model.
No DHW production
Symptom
Boiler runs, but hot water temperature fluctuates or goes cold then hot.
Unstable DHW temperature control
Symptom
Boiler runs, but some radiators stay cold.
Poor circulation / system imbalance
Symptom
Boiler smells of burning plastic or electrical burning.
Overheating electrical component
Symptom
Boiler smells of gas around the casing or flue area.
Gas leak or combustion leak
Symptom
Radiators are hot at the top but cold at the bottom.
Sludge accumulation in radiators
