Possible Causes
Stuck float in the dirty water tank, Faulty full-level reed switch or sensor, Debris blocking the sensor chamber, Damaged sensor wiring harness.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the carpet cleaner and remove both tanks.
- Clean the dirty tank: Remove the dirty water tank and open any internal float chamber. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove soap residue, hair, and debris. Ensure the float moves freely.
- Check float magnet: Many Electrolux tanks use a magnet in the float to trigger a reed switch. Confirm the magnet is still attached and not corroded.
- Inspect the sensor: Locate the tank full sensor or reed switch on the base where the tank sits. Clean the area and check for cracks or water intrusion.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Ensure the connector is firmly seated and that wires are not pinched or broken.
- Test operation: With the tank removed, plug in and power on briefly. If the unit still shows full/E5 with no tank installed, the sensor or control board is likely faulty and requires replacement.
