Possible Causes
Vacuum cleaner not correctly seated on docking contacts; misaligned docking sensor in the handle; dirty or obstructed docking sensor window; faulty docking sensor PCB.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dock before cleaning sensors or contacts.
- Reseat on dock: Remove the vacuum cleaner from the dock and place it back firmly, ensuring it clicks into place and the contacts align.
- Clean sensor areas: Wipe any visible sensor windows or alignment marks on the dock and vacuum cleaner with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no accessories or cables are preventing the vacuum cleaner from sitting fully on the dock.
- Bypass dock (if possible): Try starting the vacuum cleaner off the dock. If it runs normally, the issue is with the dock or docking sensor. Replace the docking station if the error only appears when docked.
- Persistent E16: If the vacuum cleaner will not start on or off the dock and E16 remains, the docking sensor circuit in the handle may be faulty and require PCB (Printed Circuit Board) replacement.
