Door will not close or latch properly

Safety first: Work on the door only when the smoker is cool.

Steps:

• Clean gasket and mating surface: Remove grease and debris from the door gasket and cabinet face with warm soapy water.
• Inspect hinges: Check for bent or loose hinges. Tighten hinge screws and gently bend the door back into alignment if necessary.
• Adjust latch: If your Smokin-It model has an adjustable latch, move the catch plate slightly in or out to achieve a firm but not excessive pull on the door.
• Check for warping: Close the door and look for uneven gaps. Minor warping can sometimes be corrected by careful manual adjustment; severe warping may require door replacement.
