Charger reports overtemperature; LED ring red or amber; app shows thermal fault; charging derates or stops during session.

Safety: Overheating can lead to fire. Do not cover or obstruct the charger.

• Step 1 – Check installation environment:
  • Ensure at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance around the charger (typically several inches on all sides).
  • Remove any objects blocking airflow or radiated heat.
  • If installed in a small enclosed space, improve ventilation.
• Step 2 – Inspect for direct sun or heat sources:
  • If outdoors, consider shading the unit from direct afternoon sun.
  • Keep the charger away from heaters, boilers, or other heat sources.
• Step 3 – Internal inspection (qualified person):
  • With power OFF, open the housing.
  • Check for dust buildup on heat sinks and components; gently clean with dry compressed air.
  • Inspect for discolored or melted insulation near the power contactor and input terminals.
• Step 4 – Check cooling fan (if present):
  • Power the unit and listen for the internal fan.
  • If the fan does not run when the charger is hot, test and replace the internal cooling fan assembly.
• Step 5 – Persistent thermal faults:
  • If all external causes are ruled out, the temperature sensor or main control board may be faulty.
  • Have an EVSE technician test and replace the defective component.
