Possible Causes
Dirty or oxidized Type 2 contacts, Weak spring contacts in Type 2 socket, Slightly misaligned plug insertion, Vehicle firmware incompatibility with charger settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not insert or remove the plug under visible arcing or damage. Turn off mains before internal inspection.
- 1. Reconnect carefully:
- Unplug the connector from the vehicle and charger (if socketed).
- Reconnect firmly until you hear/feel the latch click.
- 2. Clean contacts:
- Inspect the Type 2 plug and socket for dirt or light corrosion.
- Use electrical contact cleaner and a lint‑free cloth to clean the pins.
- 3. Try another vehicle or cable:
- If possible, test with a different EV or cable to isolate whether the issue is vehicle‑ or charger‑side.
- 4. Check charger mode:
- Ensure the Heidelberg charger is not in a restricted mode (e.g., RFID‑only) that prevents automatic start.
- 5. If persistent:
- Have a technician inspect the Type 2 socket assembly for worn contacts and replace if necessary.
