Possible Causes
Marginal contact in Type 2 socket, Slightly bent CP or PP pin, Oxidation on contacts, Loose CP wiring inside KEBA unit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not work on the charger while it is energized. Switch off the upstream breaker before opening the housing.
Diagnostic and corrective steps:
- 1. Try another vehicle and cable: Determine whether the issue is specific to one EV or cable. If other combinations work, focus on the failing combination.
- 2. Inspect plug and socket: Examine the Type 2 plug and KEBA socket for slight bending of the small signal pins (CP/PP), light corrosion, or dirt. Clean gently with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- 3. Check insertion depth: Ensure the plug is fully inserted and latched. Partial insertion can cause unreliable CP contact.
- 4. Internal wiring check (power off): Open the KEBA unit and verify that the CP and PP conductors are firmly secured at the socket terminals and on the main control board.
- 5. Replace worn socket: If the socket contacts appear loose or worn, replace the Type 2 socket assembly.
After repair, test with multiple vehicles to confirm stable operation.
