Possible Causes

Short circuit in vehicle inlet, Damaged Wallbox charging cable conductors, Faulty power relay/contactor welding closed, Incorrect current configuration in Wallbox controller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately stop using the charger if you smell burning, see smoke, or feel excessive heat. Turn off the upstream breaker before inspection.

  • Check the vehicle inlet: Disconnect the Wallbox connector and visually inspect the EV inlet for bent pins, debris, or burn marks. Clean gently with a dry, non‑metallic brush if dusty; do not use liquids.
  • Inspect the Wallbox cable: Run your hand along the cable (with power off) to feel for kinks, soft spots, or bulges that may indicate internal conductor damage. Replace the cable assembly if any damage is found.
  • Verify current settings: In the Wallbox app or web portal, confirm that the maximum charging current is set within the limits of the installation (breaker size, wiring gauge). If it is set too high, reduce it to the recommended value and test again.
  • Power cycle and retest: Turn the breaker OFF for 2–3 minutes, then ON. Plug in the vehicle and monitor. If Error 02 reappears immediately, do not continue to attempt charging.
  • Internal contactor inspection (qualified technician): With power disconnected, open the Wallbox unit and inspect the main power relay/contactor for signs of welding, pitting, or overheating. Check the wiring to the current sensor (CT) on the output. Replace the power relay/contactor or current sensor if defective.

Persistent Error 02 indicates a serious fault; have a licensed electrician or Wallbox service partner perform further diagnostics.
