Freezer not cooling at all; interior is warm and compressor is not running

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing rear panels or touching compressor wiring. High voltage is present.

• Verify settings: Confirm the freezer is turned on and not in demo or Sabbath mode. Adjust the temperature to a colder setting.
• Check power: Ensure the outlet has power and the cord is fully plugged in. Test the outlet with another device.
• Listen for activity: After plugging in, listen for a click and hum from the compressor area. No sound may indicate a control or relay issue.
• Inspect start relay: Remove the rear access panel, then the compressor terminal cover. Check the start relay and overload for burn marks or melted plastic. Replace with a GE-compatible start device if damaged or if the relay rattles when shaken.
• Control board diagnosis: If the compressor and relay test good but never receive power, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated or replaced by a technician.
