Antarctic Star
Reduced Cooling Efficiency
Ice maker produces ice very slowly; long time between batches
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, weak condenser fan, high ambient room temperature, partially blocked airflow vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning the condenser or fan.
Steps:
- Improve ventilation: Ensure the Antarctic Star ice maker has at least 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) clearance on all sides and is not placed in a cabinet or against a wall blocking vents.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear panel and gently brush or vacuum dust from the condenser coil fins. Avoid bending the fins.
- Check fan operation: Plug in and observe the condenser fan. It should start whenever the compressor runs. Replace the fan motor if it is slow, noisy, or not spinning.
- Lower ambient temperature: Move the unit to a cooler room if possible. Ice makers perform poorly above about 90°F (32°C).
