Possible Causes

Open circuit main oven element, Failed oven thermostat or temperature sensor, Faulty relay on main PCB, Damaged wiring harness to oven element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off the cooker at the wall isolator and turn off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse. Allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.

  • Check for obvious element damage: Remove the oven shelves and back panel inside the main oven. Inspect the circular or rectangular heating element for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. If damaged, it must be replaced.
  • Test the element: With power disconnected, remove the rear cover of the cooker to access the element terminals. Disconnect the spade connectors and test the element with a multimeter set to resistance. A healthy Belling oven element is typically between 20–40 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
  • Inspect wiring and connectors: Check the wiring harness from the element to the main control board for heat damage, loose spades, or burning. Reseat any loose connectors firmly.
  • Check temperature sensor (if fitted): Locate the temperature probe inside the oven cavity (usually at the rear or side). From the rear of the appliance, disconnect its connector and measure resistance (commonly ~1 kΩ at room temperature, but confirm with Belling documentation). An open or shorted sensor can trigger F01.
  • If relays or PCB are suspect: If the element and sensor test good but F01 persists, the main control PCB relay contacts may be burnt. Visual inspection may show scorching. PCB replacement is usually required and is best done by a qualified technician.

Do not bypass safety thermostats or run the oven with exposed wiring. If you are unsure, contact a professional.
