The oven makes a loud bang or pop and then stops heating, sometimes with a visible flash inside.

Safety: Immediately switch off power. Do not use the oven until inspected.

• Inspect elements: Look for a visible break, hole, or burn mark on the elements.
• Check terminals: From the rear, inspect element terminals and wiring for signs of arcing or burning. Replace any damaged connectors.
• Replace failed element: Fit a new genuine Hotpoint element of the same rating and shape.
• Test operation: After replacement, test the oven on a low setting first and monitor for normal operation.
