Possible Causes
Grease build-up behind knobs, melted knob plastic from overheating, corroded thermostat or selector shafts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing knobs or control panel.
- Remove knobs: Pull the control knobs straight off the shafts. Clean the knobs and fascia with mild detergent.
- Inspect shafts: Check for signs of melting or deformation. Lightly lubricate metal shafts with a high-temperature-safe lubricant (avoid getting any on electrical contacts).
- Replace damaged knobs: If knobs are cracked or distorted, replace them with New World-compatible knobs.
- Replace stiff controls: If the thermostat or selector shaft itself is stiff, the internal mechanism may be failing and the component should be replaced.
