Possible Causes
Excessive grease buildup on the drip tray, cooking at high temperatures with a dirty interior, blocked grease drain causing pooling grease.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep the lid closed, turn OFF the grill, and unplug it. Do NOT use water to extinguish a grease fire. Use a Class B fire extinguisher if needed, and keep people away from the grill.
- Do not open lid immediately: Opening the lid can introduce oxygen and intensify the fire. Wait until flames subside.
- After fire is out and grill is cool: Remove grates and drip tray. Scrape and clean all grease from the drip tray, grease channel, and interior surfaces.
- Clear grease drain: Ensure the grease drain and tube are fully open and draining to the bucket.
- Prevent recurrence: Clean the drip tray regularly, especially before high-temperature cooks on your Gourmet Grillson pellet grill.
