Ignition Failure Lockout
E02
Heater attempts to start but shuts down with E02 on the display
Flame Loss During Run
E03
Heater will not start; E03 appears immediately after call for heat
Pressure Switch Open / No Water Flow
E04
Heater shuts down with E04 after running briefly; may be hot to the touch
High Limit Switch Open / Overheat Condition
E05
Heater displays E05 and will not fire; often occurs in windy or confined installations.
Flue / Exhaust Temperature Fault
E06
Heater shows E06 and will not respond to thermostat commands.
Water Temperature Sensor Failure
E07
Display shows E07; heater will not start or shuts down quickly.
Stack Flue Sensor Open/Short
E08
Heater shows E08 and does not respond to thermostat or spa/pool mode changes.
Control Board Communication Error
E09
Heater displays E09; blower may not start on models with forced draft.
Blower Failure / Air Proving Fault
E10
Heater shows E10 and will not fire; often associated with external automation systems.
External Control / Thermostat Input Error
E11
Heater intermittently locks out with E11; it may run normally at times.
Low Gas Pressure / Gas Valve Fault
E12
Heater shows E12; the display may be blank or flicker before the code appears.
Low Voltage / Power Supply Fault
E13
Heater displays E13; it may be associated with very cold inlet water or sensor issues.
Inlet/Outlet Temperature Differential Fault
E14
Heater shows E14 and will not fire; often after service or wiring changes.
Polarity / Line Wiring Error
E15
Heater intermittently shows E15; this may coincide with strong wind conditions.
Flame Proving / Combustion Instability
E16
Heater shows E16; the fan or blower may continue to run without ignition.
Post-Purge / Ignition Control Fault
E17
Heater displays E17; this may be associated with very high outlet water temperature.
Outlet Temperature Sensor High Limit
E18
Heater shows E18; it may not recognize calls for heat from spa or pool mode.
Mode/Selector Switch Fault
E19
Heater displays E19; this may occur after lightning or a power surge.
EEPROM / Configuration Memory Error
E20
Heater shows E20; this may be accompanied by erratic temperature readings.
Sensor Calibration / Out-of-Range Fault
Symptom
Heater cycles on and off frequently without reaching the set temperature.
Short Cycling
Symptom
Heater display shows erratic or jumping temperature readings without an error code.
Intermittent Temperature Sensing
Symptom
Heater ignites with a loud boom or puff, sometimes blowing soot or flame out of the front.
Delayed Ignition / Flashback
Symptom
Heater makes loud banging or popping noises during operation.
Kettling / Boiling in Heat Exchanger
Symptom
Heater runs briefly and then shuts off when spa jets are turned on.
Flow Interruption with Spa Mode
Symptom
Heater runs but does not heat water effectively; the temperature rises very slowly.
Reduced Heating Capacity
Symptom
Heater shuts down when pump speed is reduced on a variable-speed pump.
Flow-Dependent Shutdown
Symptom
Heater starts but shuts off after a few seconds; no error code is displayed.
Marginal Flame Sensing
Symptom
Heater will not start at all; no display, no lights, completely dead.
No Power to Heater
Symptom
Soot or black staining is visible on top of the heater or around the exhaust outlet.
Sooting/Incomplete Combustion
Symptom
The display is on but completely blank or unreadable; the heater may still run.
Display/Keypad Failure
Symptom
The heater cabinet shows signs of rust and corrosion, especially near the base and around plumbing connections.
Cabinet and Component Corrosion
Symptom
The heater emits a strong gas smell around the unit, especially before ignition.
Gas Leak or Delayed Ignition
Symptom
The heater fan or blower is extremely loud or squeals during operation.
Blower Bearing Wear/Mechanical Noise
Symptom
The heater runs but the pool temperature overshoots the setpoint significantly.
Overheating/Thermostat Overshoot
Symptom
The heater trips the GFCI or breaker shortly after starting.
Electrical Short or Ground Fault
Symptom
The heater will not respond to external pool automation commands, but works manually.
Remote Control Interface Failure
Symptom
Water leaking from the bottom of the heater cabinet.
Internal Water Leak
