AEG
Poor Combustion / Burner Contamination
Gas hob burner produces a yellow, sooty, or uneven flame
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Blocked burner ports, Incorrect burner cap placement, Wrong gas type or injector size, Insufficient air supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Gas Safety: Turn off burners and allow them to cool before disassembly.
Cleaning and Setup:
- Remove burner caps and crowns; clean all ports and slots with a soft brush and non-metallic tool.
- Ensure burner caps are correctly seated and level.
- Check that the hob is installed for the correct gas type (natural gas vs. LPG) and that the appropriate injectors are fitted (see rating plate and manual).
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the kitchen; do not block air inlets.
If flames remain yellow or noisy after cleaning, a gas technician should check gas pressure and injector sizing.
