Possible Causes
Intermittent short in oven sensor, moisture in the sensor connector, damaged sensor harness insulation, failing EOC sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing rear panels or the control area.
Steps to check:
- Moisture check: If F4 appears after a self-clean or heavy steam cooking cycle, allow the oven to dry for several hours with the door open. Moisture in connectors can cause temporary shorts.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven sensor and inspect its wiring for nicks or melted spots where it passes through the rear wall. Replace if the insulation is compromised.
- Connector cleaning: Disconnect the sensor plug at the rear or at the control board. Clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect firmly.
- Replace sensor: If F4 recurs, replace the oven temperature sensor as a first step; it is more commonly the cause than a board failure.
- Control board: If a new sensor does not resolve the issue, replace the EOC.
Warning: Do not run self-clean cycles until the F4 issue is resolved; overheating can worsen wiring damage.
