Wi-Fi Connectivity Failure
F7 displayed and thermostat cannot connect to Wi-Fi network

Possible Causes
Incorrect Wi-Fi password, Weak Wi-Fi signal at thermostat location, Router blocking 2.4 GHz or using unsupported security, Faulty Wi-Fi module in thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No electrical isolation is normally required, but do not open the thermostat casing unless instructed by Ideal.
Steps:
- 1. Check Wi-Fi network: Ensure your router is powered and broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network (many smart thermostats do not support 5 GHz only).
- 2. Verify credentials: On the thermostat or Ideal app, re-enter the Wi-Fi password carefully. Avoid special characters if the thermostat manual warns about them.
- 3. Improve signal strength: Move the router closer or install a Wi-Fi extender. Avoid placing the thermostat on a metal back box that can shield the signal.
- 4. Router settings: Ensure MAC filtering is disabled or the thermostat MAC address is allowed. Use WPA2-PSK security if possible.
- 5. Reboot devices: Restart the router and then the thermostat. Attempt to reconnect via the Ideal app.
- 6. Factory reset network settings: In the thermostat menu, reset network settings and perform the setup again.
If F7 persists and other devices connect fine, the thermostat's Wi-Fi module may be faulty and require replacement.
