Possible Causes

Failing AVR, shorted stator winding, loose engine drive belt on a liquid‑cooled alternator, excessive load causing voltage sag.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect all loads and shut down the generator before inspection.

  • Check for overload: Confirm that the total connected load does not exceed the Scheppach generator's rated kW. Remove non‑essential loads and retest the voltage.
  • Inspect alternator connections: With power OFF, remove the alternator cover and check all stator and rotor connections for tightness and discoloration. Repair any burnt connectors.
  • Check drive belt (if applicable): On some liquid‑cooled units with belt‑driven alternators, inspect the belt for slipping or glazing. Adjust tension or replace the belt if worn.
  • Test AVR: If mechanical issues are ruled out, substitute a known‑good Scheppach AVR. If the voltage returns to normal, the original AVR is faulty.
  • Stator test: Measure stator winding resistance phase‑to‑phase and phase‑to‑ground as per the service manual. A significantly low resistance or ground fault indicates a damaged stator that must be replaced.
