Possible Causes

Insufficient fuel in the main or day tank, faulty SDMO fuel level sensor, wiring fault between the fuel level sensor and controller, or air ingress due to an empty suction line.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the generator OFF and ensure no ignition sources are nearby when handling fuel. Use appropriate spill containment.

  • Confirm actual fuel level: Visually inspect the main tank and day tank (if fitted). Refill with the correct fuel type (diesel or gas) as specified for the SDMO model.
  • Check fuel level sensor: Locate the SDMO fuel level sender on the tank. Inspect the wiring and connector for corrosion or damage. Gently move the float arm (if accessible) and observe the level reading on the controller.
  • Bleed fuel system if tank ran dry: If the tank was empty, refill and bleed air from the fuel system using the manual priming pump and bleed screws on the SDMO fuel filter head and injection pump.
  • Test sensor electrically: Measure the resistance of the fuel level sender across its terminals and compare with SDMO specifications. Replace the sender if readings are out of range or intermittent.
  • Reset alarm: Clear AL06 on the controller and verify that the fuel level indication is stable and accurate.
