Possible Causes

Torn or worn door gasket, Foreign object trapped between drum and seal, Loose retaining band or clamp, Build-up of mould and residue on seal lip

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply.

  • Inspect door seal: Open the door and carefully examine the grey rubber bellow all around, especially at the bottom, for cuts, holes, or splits. Run your fingers gently around the inner lip to feel for trapped objects.
  • Remove foreign objects: If you find bra wires, coins, or other items lodged in the seal, carefully remove them to prevent further damage.
  • Clean the seal: Wipe the seal thoroughly with a cloth and mild detergent to remove soap scum and mould that can prevent a proper seal.
  • Check retaining bands: Ensure the outer and inner metal or wire bands that hold the seal to the front panel and tub are tight and correctly seated in their grooves.

If the seal is torn or heavily degraded, replace the AEG door seal (bellow). This involves removing the front retaining band, pulling off the old seal, fitting the new one onto the tub lip, and refitting both inner and outer bands.
